Dismissal Changes / Early Pick-up

Our school day begins at 8:25 a.m. Dismissal is at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays and early release days, hours are 8:25 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Any changes in your child’s transportation or dismissal must be communicated to the front office by 2:00 p.m. For safety and communication purposes, we cannot honor changes made after 2:00 p.m.

If you wish to check your child out of school early, you must arrive before 2:15 p.m. (1:15 on Wednesdays). Please call, email, or send a note to your child’s teacher and the front office to let them know your child will be leaving school early.

A student is considered absent if he/she misses more than half a day of school.

The St. Johns County School District’s Attendance Policy can be found in the Student Code of Conduct, and at the District’s website.

Absence excuse notes should be hand-written, signed and dated by the Parent/Guardian. It is preferred that parents/guardians do not email absence notes. A standard school absence form may also be used:
HCE Absence Form

Absence notes must be turned in within 48 hours of the absence.

If you have a planned absence, you may use the PrePlanned Absence Form:

Attendance calls are automatically sent out on a daily basis. The District also sends out notifications of accumulated absences when a student reaches 5, 10 and 15 days of unexcused absence. These notices are provided as a means of communication to help parents/guardians be aware of their student’s attendance.
